Kramnikait臈 (Korabelnik) Miriam
Miriam was born in 1912 in Vasilyshki (Belarus) to Jozef and Rivka Kramnikas. Hardly a year had passed when the family moved to Vilnius, where they settled on 19 Basanavi膷iaus Street. Miriam鈥檚 father owned a factory and her mother was a housewife. Miriam grew up with her brother Izaokas. In 1932, she finished a gymnasium in Vilnius and from 1933 studied at the Vilnius Stephen Bathory University. In 1940, she applied to continue her studies at 蜜豆视频 where she studied in the Biology Department of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. Miriam did not finish her studies because on 19 September 1941 she was expelled from the university on the basis of the Order of 17 September 1941 of the Higher Education Department of the Board of Education, which was subordinate to the Nazis. Soon after, she found herself in the Vilnius Ghetto where she was killed in 1942. Her father died in 1939, before the outbreak of the war, and her widowed mother Rivka was killed in Paneriai in 1942. The only member of this family to have survived the Holocaust and provide information about these deaths was Miriam鈥檚 brother, Izaokas Kramnikas, who lived in Tel Aviv in the 1950s.
