Beras JoffÄ— (1923–?) was born in Kaunas to Chaimas Leiba JoffÄ— and Malka BurokiÅ«tÄ— – a family of merchants. In 1939, he graduated from the private 2nd Jewish Gymnasium in Kaunas. On 9 September of the same year, he applied to study at the Medical Department of the Faculty of Medicine of Vytautas Magnus University, but his application was rejected. On 29 September 1939, JoffÄ— reapplied for admission to the Biology Department of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of Vytautas Magnus University and was accepted. On October 16, 1940, he applied to study at the Medical Department of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓÆµ; this application was not granted, but Beras was admitted to the Biology Department in the same faculty. On 19 September 1941, he was expelled from the university by the Order of 17 September 1941 of the Department of Higher Education under the Board of Education, which was subordinate to the National Socialists. In 1949, JoffÄ— provided certification that he was working as a teacher at Secondary School No. 5 in Kamensk (Altai Region) and studying at the Extra-mural Department of the Pedagogical Institute. At the same time, he submitted a request to receive his school diploma, which was granted to him. No further information on the fate of JoffÄ— is known.
