If you are considering about suspension or termination of your studies
Termination of studies must be a well-considered decision after testing all the possibilities offered at ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ. It is possible that termination of studies is not the only way to solve the problem that you are facing and it might be useful to consider all of the other possible options:
SUSPENSION OF STUDIES OR ACADEMIC LEAVE
Suspension of studies or academic leave are the ways for you to take a break from studies without terminating them. The differences between academic leave and suspension can be seen in the chart below:
While on academic leave or suspension of studies, it is possible to use the VU Library, computers and other resources and infrastructure.
CHANGE OF THE STUDY PROGRAMME
If you feel that the study programme in which you are currently studying is not for you, consider transfering to another one.
- If you wish to change a study programme in a same group of study fields, consult an Academic Counsellor at the Academic Unit (Faculty) where the programme that you wish to transfer to is held.
- If you wish to change a study programme to one in a different group of study fields, consult a Career Counsellor and the Academic Counsellor at the Academic Unit (Faculty) where the programme that you wish to transfer to is held.
Applications for transfer to studies should be submitted to the Academic Core Unit in which the study programme that you wish to transfer to is held.
If you have considered all the possibilities offered by ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ and / or used them, you can terminate your studies by submitting an application to the Administration of the Academic Unit (Faculty) where you study.
Remember, if you do not come to study, do not attend lectures or take exams, the agreement does not terminate automatically. Evaluate all of the financial obligations that may come with the termination of your studies and make sure to fulfill them if an occur. More information about payments can be found in the Description of the Procedure of Payment, Reimbursement, and Recovery of Tuition Fees at ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ.

If you do not use one of the above options and suspend or terminate your studies, you will be able to continue or resume them.

Take the opportunity to participate in Smart internship and gain practical experience working in an interdisciplinary and intercultural team. The internship is held under the Design Thinking methodology, where students are ought to creatively solve challenges that participating organizations have faced.
Practical and international experience, which is highly valued by employers, can be gained through Erasmus + programme. This traineeship can be used up to 6 times (minimum duration 2 months). Study exchanges, traineeships and graduate internships should not exceed 12 months in your studies.

- study according to the part-time study schedule and complete studies, for example, not in 4 but in 5 years of study.

Feedback to lecturers, administration
As a member of the largest community, you should be interested in the quality of your studies, so working with your lecturers and the Administration of your Academic Unit (Faculty) can help identify emerging challenges to the quality of your studies and contribute to finding a solution. One way to enable all students to participate directly in the process of improving their studies is to provide feedback on their studies by expressing their views in student surveys organized by the University, which take place periodically twice a year. We encourage you to actively participate in providing feedback by completing all the surveys from ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ. It will make a difference for future generations of students.

Career Counselors organize training and events, during which you can explore topics of interest in depth and develop practical skills. Student Affairs and Career Office also organizes other events in which you are invited to take an active part. Training takes place live and remotely, for groups of different sizes, in Lithuanian and English, all the time - even during the holidays. You can sign a study agreement with the University as an unclassified student and after paying the set price for the selected study program subject (s) you can study individual study program subjects (modules) and improve your qualification and (or) acquire additional competencies. By becoming an unclassified student, you will have the same responsibilities as students. If you wish to study with the status of an unclassified student, apply to the Academic Unit (Faculty) where the course is held.
If it is difficult to balance studies and personal life or work
Sometimes there are changes in life that disrupt a routine and make it more difficult to balance your studies and personal life or work. Seek help and sign up for an individual career consultation or consider the possibility of changing the study form or plan to extend your studies by taking advantage of an individual study plan (for example, instead of 4 years of study, study for 5 years).

Academic leave due to an illness
If you want to continue your studies but unable to do so at this moment due to an illness, you may be granted academic leave due to illness. Applications for academic leave have to be submitted via the eStudent Environment at is.vu.lt. It might be useful for you to consult with the Academic Counselor at your Academic Unit (faculty) before making the application. Although this might be the best way to solve your problems, we recommend reviewing other possibilities offered by VU.
Contact with Disability Affairs Coordinator
ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ is open and makes efforts to ensure appropriate study conditions for students with disabilities. The study environment and learning materials can be adapted to individual needs arising from disability. We invite future and current students of ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ to contact the Disability Affairs Coordinator for all disability-related issues which will be held confidentially.
One-Off Social Grant
Sometimes we all face financial difficulties, and it can have a direct impact on learning. If you are experiencing financial difficulties, take advantage of the One-Off Social Grant. These grants are granted is given to students of the first cycle, second cycle, third cycle and Integrated studies in the event of death of family members, natural or other disasters, illness or other similar cases. The application can be submitted at any time through the eStudent environment. The size of a one-time social grant is from 2 to 12 BSI (BSI - basic social benefit, currently reaches 39 Eur per month).

Psychological counseling
ÃÛ¶¹ÊÓƵ students can receive professional help from psychologists when they have doubts before making important decisions, when they have a feeling of loneliness, disagreements with friends or relatives, worries about romantic relationships, extremely shy, suffering from anxiety, prolonged or strong sadness, disturbing fears, injuries, divorce, loss of family members or serious illness, problems at work or study, eating disorders, alcohol or drug abuse. If you are experiencing financial difficulties or have anxiety about your financial situation
At one or another part of life, the issue of finance becomes more relevant. Sometimes financial difficulties cause anxiety, tension and in such a situation it becomes difficult to clearly see all the possibilities offered or focus on your studies. While having difficulties it is hard to make best decision, so register for individual consultation and take advantage of the opportunities offered to you.

If you do not have enough funds to pay for your studies at this moment, you can pay in installments or postpone the payment until the end of the current semester. The dean (head of the department) of the Academic Unit (Faculty) may allow the tuition fee to be paid in installments or postpone the payment of the tuition fee. The application is submitted in the eStudent environment. Also, if you study well, you may get an incentive scholarship.
